The Venaria Reale scenery is partially fictional, but based on wartime pictures. During the second part of WWII this airfield was the home base of the Squadriglia Complementare d'allarme "Montefusco" ("Montefusco" Complementary Alarm Squadron) of the Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana, based on the Italian fighter FIAT G.55 "Centauro". Initially the "Montefusco" was equipped with some former 353a Squadriglia FIAT G.55 "sottoserie 0" and a few new production G.55s. His duty, apart from to be an advanced training unit for the A.N.R, was the defence of Turin area from January to June 1944. This unit achieved some success against the overwhelming Allied forces, but suffered also severe losses.
The airfield also served as a dispersal base for the new production G.55s before their redistribution to the operational units in Northern Italy.

The airfield is located NW of Turin and in the vicinity of a castle property of the House of Savoia.
The position of this airfield is: N45 08.78, E007 36.86, el.813, RWY (grass) 36/18.
The NDB frequency is set at 265 Khz, ID."VRE", range 75+ NM.
All the objects appearing in this scenery are stock CFS, apart from the FIAT G.55s of the Sq. Comp. d'allarme "Montefusco" and the Breda 65 that were very kindly provided and positioned in the right place by Edmundo Abad, the great CFS1 scenery builder - many thanks Edmundo!.

INSTALLATION:

Important note:
This is an upgrade of the Venaria Reale airport enclosed, together with others, in the "FIAT G.55 Centauro" series of missions published on the "Barone Rotto" site (http://web.tiscalinet.it/AnghinelliPD/) in December 2002. I added some new static aircraft (see above), new buildings, trucks, a car and some trees. For those simmers that downloaded the old version and want to utilize this new edition of this airport, I suggest to delete all the files named "Venaria Reale" that they have already in the Italian scenery folder of CFS and to repeat the installation as specified below. This upgrade enclose all the necessary files.

This scenery requires the CFS Italy v1.5 scenery by Cliff Burgess already installed.
After unzipping the "Venaria Reale.zip", place the pertinent folder ("Venaria Reale") and the related subfolders "Scenery" and "Texture" in CFS>scenery main folder; you would have a structure like this:

CFS---
Scenery---
Venaria Reale---
---Scenery
---Texture

Now, activate the scenery with the standard procedure: World>Scenery library>Files>Add..>Scenery area path (=:\=\scenery\Venaria Reale\Scenery\*.bgl)>Scenery aerea title (Venaria Reale)>Local>Scenery area active (check). Venaria Reale is listed in the airfields menu.
This scenery is compatible also with the "Torino CFS Scenery" by Edmundo Abad, arranging the scenery layers in this way:

Venaria Reale
....................
....................
....................
....................
Italy North (Italy v1.5-Burgess)
Torino (Abad)
Combat Flight Simulator Non-Theatre World-Metro (default)
Combat Flight Simulator Non-Theatre World (default)

If you will like the Venaria Reale scenery, you may find many others, many missions, campaigns and aircraft for CFS1 at http://web.tiscalinet.it/AnghinelliPD/ where I placed all my production.

CREDITS:

This scenery was designed with the help of STACFS12 by C.Dome and MkAFD by M. Wright. The NDB was made with the utility EASYNAVS 2000 by Hervé Sors. The static airplanes provided by Edmundo Abad were designed with MDL to BGL utility program by Trevor de Stigter (Copyright 1998/2001) and were placed in it with the utility program Airport 2.6 by Meziat, Hiscox and Mc Williams. The related flyiable planes were built by: (FIAT G.55) Alessandro Casadio, modified by Mike Colclough - http:// Die Staffel.com; (Breda 65) by Corrado La Posta - (Is4g) - http://space.tin.it/clubnet/hyoqasb/index.htm.
Many thanks, of course, to Edmundo Abad (http://mipagina.123.cl/eabad/index.htm) for his kind help, to the great Cliff Burgess for the Italian scenery and, last but not least, to Paolo Anghinelli the owner of the "Barone Rotto" site devoted to CFS at http://web.tiscalinet.it/AnghinelliPD/ where I placed all my missions, campaigns, airports and aircraft.
